Chapter #4
Turtle Island
by: Unknown
It was a bright, sunny Summer day above the pacific ocean and you had decided to take the day to go sailing. You rented a sailboat and had gone out to see, looking at fish of all species swimming underneath the water under the light of the sun. “This is the life,” you say. “Out on the ocean, forgetting about the aches and pains of the big city. Makes me wish that I couldn’t go back. You then let out a sigh. “If only that were a possibility. I have work in the morning... really early.” That brief mention of your grueling job with obnoxious coworkers and an incompetent boss occuring in your head, for only a minute ruins your relaxing thoughts. But then you get over it and continue to sail out.
As you were sailing, you lose track of time and you look at your waterproof watch before you let out a gasp. “Oh my gosh!” you yell. “It’s almost two o’clock! I better get back to shore!” You turn around and start to sail back for the mainland... or at least you try to do so. The problem is that you sailed way too far out into the ocean and you had no clear idea where you were. You wander around aimlessly for an hour before you’re exhausted. “I really should’ve paid more attention to where I was sailing. I’m lost at sea.”
You were bemoaning your situation when you hear a squawking above like one of those annoying seagulls. Sure enough, you look up and see one of those annoying seagulls. Actually, you see a whole flock of those annoying seagulls. “Seagulls,” you mutter. “Just what I need.” That was when realization hit you. “Wait a minute,” you say to yourself. “Where there are birds, there’s land. If I follow those seagulls, I should be able to head back to the mainland.” You open the sail wide to let the wind take you and follow the seagulls and then you take out a paddle in order to avoid losing the trail. As you follow the seagulls, you see something in the distance.
What you see is an enormous blackish blue island with white and black spots all over it. You give a blink. “That’s a rather odd looking island. It doesn’t look like it’s anywhere near the mainland. “Oh well. Perhaps if I climb the top, I can look out and see where I am.” You anchor the boat near the bottom of the island and then you step foot on the island and grunt. As you feel the ground under your feet, to your surprise, the ground was hard and felt like leather. You tap your foot a few times in confusion and rub your chin and then you climb further up the island. Or at least, you try to climb. The leather-like feel makes it rather difficult for you to position yourself. “What kind of island is this? It feels like it isn’t an island at all.”
It was at that moment the island begun to shake and you gasp. You try to grab the ground but its too thick and you have to grab the edge of the island. “What?” you ask. “Islands don’t have edges. Whoa!” The island then starts moving, violently shaking the water and destroying the boat that you rented in the process. “No!” you yell. “Crap! There goes my damage deposit!” Of course, you have much bigger problems (literally bigger) as the island rises up and reveals that it isn’t an island at all. What you were on, was the shell of a giant, big-bellied, thick-skinned anthropomorphic leatherback sea turtle woman who from the looks of it, had a large Cleopatra-style nose, bright red lips and medium length reddish purple hair. The turtle woman feels you and then plucks you off her neck with her thick fingers as you yell.
The turtle giantess brings you up in front of her face and smirks. “Aren’t you a cute little human,” she says. “I think I’ll keep you.” You can only blink as you look at the giant woman with a mix of surprise and fear.
