Once upon a time, there lived a girl, just a normal kid from a small town like you or me.
There was nothing extraordinary about little Summer, save for two things:
she had a head on her shoulders smarter than any of the other kids in her town, and soles on her that were also more ticklish than anyone's.
She suffered many defeats and much humiliation at the hands of various evildoers because of this (not the least at those of her younger sister Mouse, who loved to exploit her sister's weakness).
But all good stories eventually come to a happy ending.
Summer's day in the limelight came at last after she solved the notorious mystery of the haunted Featherton Manor that had plagued the residents of Hollering Heights for decades, and stopped the nefarious Clown Prince behind the disappearances of the town's youth.
Summer's talent in investigations finally became known to the world (and, after that, even to her parents), and all of the adults in her hometown knew of her and loved her.
Well...all but one person...
...
"Summer Salt, always Summer Salt!" shouted Chief Bullroc, head of the Hollering Heights Police Department (Ha-Ha PD).
"What does SHE have that I don't? We work hard every day to protect their safety and yet THIS girl is the one who gets all the attention for solving just a single crime!"
Sergeant Littlefinger, his assistant, who was better natured and worked for HaHaPD for shorter than her boss, did not comment, just pointed at the station's television's screen.
"I believe that's her, having an interview with Hollering Heights Community Channel."
The chief's jaw dropped.
The familiar figure of the girl detective was standing next to a hyperactive reporter.
"I'm standing here in front of HH Public Library with our own amazing Summer Salt!
Miss Salt, everybody is talking about your brave accomplishment after you entered the spoooky Featherton Manor!
Did you know that the previous police chief proved that the ghost was an urban hoax?
But you proved that there WAS a ghost! Summer, how do you feel about that?"
"I just wish I knew why everyone always wants to tickle me."
"Capital! What a comeback! So, let me ask you the one question that is probably on the minds of all of our viewers! Are your feet really that ticklish?"
"Oh yes. Excessively."
"What would you do if I touched them now?"
"I would kick you in the face and then have you fired."
But Chief Bullroc wan't the only one watching Summer's interview with malicious interest on this day!
Somewhere far off, a nefarious figure also had their eyes glued to the television screen with interest.
Was it the revengeful Clown Prince observing his arch-enemy?
Was it the Maharaja of Tinglingstan whose slave-girl traffic Summer had crushed during a previous adventure?
Or one of her numerous other villains?
"So, Summer Salt is about to announce her plans publicly...What a great opportunity to finally get my revenge! Wherever she goes, she better be prepared, for I will be waiting! Wa-ha ha! Mu-ha-ha!"
Oblivious to this, the charming Summer and her interviewer were just about to conclude the broadcast.
"So, one last secret for our viewers." The reporter said. "What's next for Summer Salt?"
"Hmm. Well, the next thing I think I'll do is..."
