Summer (after she called her parents, and assured them that she was safe and was going to be home soon) was overcome with a sense of melancholy as she wandered through the twilight-illuminated town.
So much had happened these past months, and she and her friends have learned so much.
With all the recognition she got recently, a nagging thought started growing in the back of her mind...
Were these happy days going to continue forever? Sooner or later, something was going to happen and it would all end...
She was glad when a sharp cry snapped her out of her reverie.
"Suuuumm-eer~"
and she noticed Jamie's figure waving from the other side of the road. Her friend was in their best Saturday clothes, and grasped her hands with joy. They walked next to each other for a while, which strangely felt weird. Summer noticed that Jamie...looked sadder than usual. Suddenly her friend spoke up
"Summer, we should talk, girl to..er, like best friends."
"W-what is it?" she asked, wondering why she was sounding embarrassed.
"You know how we met a lot of people these past months...made a lot of new friends..."
"Yeah..."
Jamie suddenly grabbed her hands.
"And that's why!"
"Jamie, what?"
"I'm saying that you should choose someone!"
"Wha-Whaaaa?" she checked mentally that her friend was really saying what she thought she heard. "Jamie, we're still way too young for...I mean, it's not even our own school dance yet..."
"That's exactly why! Do you think there's always going to be more time to pick? Eventually you are going to realize that these school days have gone by and you never once went on a date or walked to school with your crush or...or..."
"But...But...I don't even know anyone who'd...I mean, there's this upperclassman that always tries to ask me to places but he's not really, like..."
"Summer."
"Yes."
"You're super popular. With that interview, you're going to be even more popular. You have to grab this chance! Consider Chris!"

"What's with Chris?" Summer asked, suddenly worried.
"Oh, nothing, nothing bad. It's just, you know that...
