Steven woke up in his apartment and slowly got out of bed. he stood up, yawned loudly, and rubbed the sleep out of his eyes before glancing at his digital clock. It was 6:25 am, his normal wake up time.
"I guess it's time to start the day..." he muttered, as he walked into his bathroom and put on his shower. As he showered, he thought about his life up until this point.for 36 years, Steven had just been that tall, quiet guy. Sure, he could be sociable when the mood struck, but for the most part he was a loner, preferring to spend his time indoors with a good book instead of going out on the town or getting a bite to eat with his coworkers. As a result of this, he was not particularly close to many of the people that we worked along side of, with maybe a handful of exceptions who he was friendly with. This was a shame, since many of the people that Steven worked with were quite attractive women who he certainly wouldn't have minded getting to know a bit better. Of course, the fact that some of them were considerably younger than he was did not help things very much.
Steven sighed as he got out of the shower and threw on some fresh clothes, a pair of Khakis and a red 'Wilkos' polo shirt. the then slid his name tag onto his shirt and put his glasses over his eyes, getting rid of the blurriness that Steven had gotten used to for so many years. He frowned, when he looked back at his bed. The sheets were now nicely made, rather than thrown across the room like they were before he had gotten into the shower. On top of the bed, was a cardboard box with a note taped to it. Steven walked over to the box and pulled the note off of it.
"'Dear Steven'" he read aloud, frowning in confusion as to how the strange box could have appeared on his bed. "'May this lead to many adventures. Use it wisely.' Hmm...doesn't say what 'it' is...or who it's from. Who could have even gotten in here?" Steven asked himself as he curiously opened the box, revealing a single piece of extremely old paper. Based on the tear marks on one side, it appeared to have been ripped out from a book. Steven picked up the paper and looked it over. The top of the page was entitled 'Astral Projection Spell'. Subtext beneath the larger words explained that this page contained a spell that would allow the caster's spirit to leave his or her body. While in spirit form, the caster would not be able to be seen, heard, or felt by anybody. They could walk through any solid object and fly faster and higher than an airplane. If they came into any physical contact with a person, the caster would take over that person's body, having access to their personalities and life experiences as if they were them. While in their body, the possessing spirit could alter their memories and personality in whatever ways they wanted. The suggested use for this ability was to make the person believe that they had willingly done whatever they did while their body was possessed, but there were a lot of possibilities. The caster would be able to leave the body that they possessed just by thinking about it and would only have to recast the spell if they returned to their original body or remained in a different body for over 6 hours. The spell warned not to stay in a body that was not the caster's original body for longer than 24 hours.
As Steven read through the page, he noticed that his hands were shaking. Steven had been complaining about how boring his life had been getting lately, and this could be his escape from that boredom. Steven...
