Before he could do anything else, his Mom called out from the kitchen: "Dinner's ready."
Audrey shut the television off and hopped up from the couch. As she walked away, James swapped back their preferences. She shook her head, but kept walking to the kitchen. The thoughts about iCarly were still there, faded but there. It was an interesting show, and he could see why Audrey enjoyed it. Not that he did anymore, but he could see it.
James sat down beside his sister, his mom sitting across from them. Their dad wasn't home yet, but it wasn't unusual. He worked late sometimes, and really any time he didn't have to hear about how wonderful his brother was or see him give some gift to his sister was a good day. His mom at least didn't seem to mind him - though she still did more things with Audrey.
While his sister and mother made small talk about this days, James thought about the ring still on his finger. He could make any number of changes, but he had to be careful. Twenty minutes and he still was thinking iCarly and really anything Audrey liked to watch was still interesting. He didn't want to make any major change, but with great risk came great rewards.
Swapping something physical may be less dangerous then a personality trait like preferences. He glanced at his mother and then his sister. It would be so easy to swap something from either of them. Maybe a piece of clothing, or a body part, or their hair.
Or he could swap something between the two of them.
