Surprised was a bit of an understatement. Denise pushed ops the front door to discover the house in ruins, a seven-foot tall figure of clay standing over the crumpled ruin of the computer chair, and she screamed, he scream turning from one of terror to rage as realization set in.
"Mike! What happened?! You trashed the entire house!"
The clay figure turned slowly and spoke in a gravelly voice. "Sorry, sweetie. Still getting used to the body and golems aren't the most agile of creatures. I'll clean it up after I finish my notes, I promise," it said, turning back to the computer and carefully jabbing the keyboard with its rock-like divers, one button at a time.
"You'll start cleaning it up right now," Denise said icily. She knew how obsessed her husband could get with writing when he was in the zone. The house would remain ruined for two or three days.
The golem bowed its head. "As my mistress commands." Moving with now-surprising quickness, it began to pick up the bits of ruined furniture it had destroyed. If it's stone face could have an expression, she was sure t would have been surprise.
"Wait, stop." Mike stopped, frozen. "Go make me a sandwich."
"As my mistress commands," it boomed, moving towards the kitchen.
"No, wait, actually, go kill my boss."
"As my mistress commands. Um. Err. Denise? I don't think I can actually stop myself," Mike admitted, as his set off towards the front door.
"This is amazing. You mean you have to do everything that I order you too?"
"That's kind of what a golem is." Mike knocked the front door off its hinges on his way out, lumbering out. "Uh, still on a mission to kill your boss here," he shouted back from halfway down the drive.
