"Good," you say in follow up. "Then I have a favour to ask of you, my friend."
Ritchie raises an eyebrow.
"Pokemon grow when you release them from the pokeball, right? But I'm stuck here, at this size. If you could get hold of my machine, I could get a little bigger, less likely to be accidently stepped on."
"You're not gonna grow bigger than me and leave, are you?"
"No! Nonono," you say, placating the kid and keeping him from getting too suspicious. "Maybe just, y'know, bigger than your finger, at least?"
He smiles and laughs. "So, where is your machine?"
"It's at the library. I was thinking that, in the next few days -"
"Nah, let's go now."
God has spoken, and so the plan is decided. You scramble off as the boy places his hand back on the bedside cabinet, and watch in awe as he dresses. In addition to putting on his shoes, he straps pads to his knees and elbows, great pieces of armour that would crush whole neighbourhoods. Finally, he places a massive helmet on his head, fastening a strap beneath his chin.
You climb aboard his proferred hand again, and are lifted higher than his eyes, facing the massive holes in the helmet. Taking the hint, you climb out into the gigantic cave, sitting down and marvelling at the view from atop the head of a young boy.
Ritchie rises and walks, his shuddering steps dulled somewhat by the armour. You revel in the feeling of size that you gain from being so high up, until the boy passes his mother, and you are humbled again as you are forced to look upwards to behold the glory of this mother of a god.
"Where are you off to, Ritchie?" she asks.
"Oh, just off to the library quickly!" he replies, and you catch the surprise on her face.
"Better than being with those video games..." she mutters as he turns and descends to the front door.
Ritchie's knees bend, and you clutch for dear life as he stoops, rising soon after with an aircraft-carrier sized skateboard under his arm. The door opens easily to his power, and he steps outside.
A few stomps of his foot and the skateboard is coasting along easily, devastating speeds rushing you along streets filled with giants, plus the even huger forms of buildings and cars, a dazzling array of majestic awe.
You had planned on tracking the route, but the experience has shaken you too much, and you're at the library before you've even gained your bearings. Ritchie kicks the board up to hold again, raising his other hand to remove the helmet. As he does so, he tips you into his palm, once more casually re-asserting his dominance. "Tell me the way," he whispers as he ascends the steps.
He manouevres you up to his ear, and you grip on to folds of skin to allow yourself to both bellow directions into the dark cave and still get an idea of the outside world.
Once more the world rocks with every step of the boy, and you cast your tiny eyes over the skyscraping bookshelves on all sides, giving a 'left' or 'right' rather than go through the embarrassment of saying aloud the name of the genre section your camp is in. You have a minor worry that Ritchie won't be able to reach the top shelf where it is, but then realise what a blessing that is: you alone will have control over the machine.
"Not far now!" you say, just before a vast being steps before Ritchie.
"Where do you think you're going, young man?" the librarian asks. You climb out from the ear to get a better look at her, a tall, thin woman whose severe physique and mode of dress could be a poster of a steretypical librarian. She pushes her glasses further up her nose as she waits for a reply to her question. "This is an adults-only section."
As you look around, you see another giantess approaching from behind the boy. Maybe early twenties, her bleary goth/emo look makes it clear that she might be just the target readership for 'Werewolf Lovers IX' - she's heading your way, and as she passes you could jump onto her to let her carry you where Ritchie can't go!
That would be abandoning this boy though, and that feels a little cruel. Maybe you could get into his ear and feed him some words to help him bypass this obstacle?
But what an obstacle she is. You're not sure what would convince her, but she is close enough that you could jump from Ritchie to her, and allow this obstructive goddess be your new mode of transport.
If you've had enough of being carried, the shelves aren't too far away either. You could jump to them, abandon the human world entirely, and return to your own powers of survival.
Finally, you could just trust to Ritchie. He did seem very confident when he headed here, so he must have a plan. You could remain steady, and rely on this boy to get you through.
