Kris(Crystal) and Kotone(Lyra) had journeyed far across the Johto region along with their pal, Hibiki(Gold), and had caught many Pokemon and defeated many Gym Leaders. But on their travels they came across a rogue group of former Team Rocket members, completely by accident, who had decided to restart the failed organization under new management. Since then they had almost single handedly taken down the struggling evil team once again.
However, the three heroes had discovered a plot by the newly formed Team Rocket to take over the Goldenrod City Radio Tower to signal a cry for help from their mysterious former leader, who had disappeared years ago when the original team disbanded. All radio communications had ceased and been replaced by this pleading call. So Kris, Kotone, and Hibiki teamed up to take down to rescue everyone in the Radio Tower, fix the communications, and take down the last remnants of Team Rocket once and for all.
"So far, so good." Kris thought. The young, blue-haired woman had split up from Kotone and Hibiki to explore the higher levels of the Radio Tower herself. Thanks to a keycard she'd found, getting there was a piece of cake. So far her Pokemon were doing well, thanks in great part to her experienced training of them and her expert use and stock of items she always kept handy. She just hoped that Kotone and Hibiki were alright.
There was only one room left that Kris hadn't already explored, and she was sure that the Team Rocket Executives were there, waiting for her. Kris braced herself and stepped through the door to the final room.
As she expected Archer, the defacto 'leader' of the new Team Rocket was inside, doing something with the radio tower controls. Kris wasn't sure what the blue-haired man was up to here by himself, but she sure wasn't going to let him get away with taking the tower and everyone inside captive.
"Hey! Stop right there!" Kris shouted.
She stormed into the room with a strong confidence, but before she could even get close to the madman, she felt herself get grabbed from behind. She narrowly had time to gasp before a hand covered her mouth. Instinctively, she struggled to free herself from whoever had her in a hold, but couldn't. She did however get a glimpse of the long, red hair of her captor and knew immediately that it was Ariana, another of the Team Rocket executives, and one that Kris had beaten before with the help of her friends.
"Hey, you..." Ariana began, turning the girl in her grip around so she could see her. "Remember me from Mahogany Town? Hee hee, looks like this time you're all alone..."
Ariana's creepily playful tone made Kris start to worry. She knew the Rocket higher ups were crazy, but she'd never been caught so helplessly by one before now, and she worried what they might do to her. If only she could use her Pokemon, she thought. But Ariana was holding her in such a way that throwing any of her Pokeballs was impossible.
"Hold it." Archer said in a commanding tone. Kris felt Ariana loosen up on her just a little. Archer then walked closer to the girls. "This is the one you told me about?"
"Yes, sir. She's the little brat who beat, er, prevented us from carrying out your orders before." Ariana said.
Archer held out his hand in front of Kris's face, making the young woman sweat. He then lightly brushed her cheeks.
"Oh...? You managed to get this far?" Archer said, he sounded amused by the girl's bravado and current state. But then, he looked worried all of a sudden, and Kris couldn't help but wonder why.
"Boss..?" Ariana asked.
The answer to their questions came when into the room in a flash, it was Kotone, quite literally jumping onto the scene and tackling Ariana to the floor, causing the redhead woman to let go of Kris. Kris and Kotone recovered quickly and were on their feet in seconds, facing opposite of the stunned Team Rocket executives.
"Thanks, Kotone!" Kris said, smiling at her friend.
"Don't mention it!" Kotone smiled back.
"That was pretty reckless, though." Kris commented.
"Hey, it worked, didn't it?" Kotone said.
Kris grinned, she couldn't deny that, she just wished the Kotone would be more careful in the future. The two girls then got ready to battle the Team Rocket executives.
"This isn't going as planned." Archer said as he returned to his previous composure. He noticed that Ariana was still shocked by turn of events and shook his head. He knew defeat was imminent if he let the girls release their Pokemon soon. He scoffed at the thought of losing to the girls, and went to the radio tower's control panel.
"Ariana, step back!" Archer shouted, and he flipped some switches and pressed a button. Suddenly, a strong waves of sounds burst into the room, knocking everyone to the floor.
"Oww...." Kotone cried, and covered her ears.
"What is he doing!?" Kris shouted, covering her ears as well.
"That fool! He can't be using that experiment! Not when I'm right here!" Ariana shouted. She covered a single ear and tried to get away from the girls.
Though their ears were aching from the sheer sound of the noise, the girls could still see. They saw as the sound waves seemed to concentrate in the middle of the room and form a pattern the radiated throughout the room directly into the them. The waves of noise seemed to take on a reddish color and the girls could almost feel the sound vibrating through their bodies. As if the pain alone wasn't enough, the new sensation added insult to injury, and Kris could almost swear that the room was getting bigger by the second.
Archer had long since recovered, not being effected by the debilitating waves any longer and stood there watching the scene unfold. He watched in amazed satisfaction as the Rocket engineering team's latest weapon had successfully turned the tables on the girls, shrinking them little by little while they were too caught off guard to do anything about it, much less realize it was happening to them.
"K-Kris! I-Is it just me, or is the r-room getting... b-bigger!?" Kotone cried over the noise.
Kris couldn't even reply if she wanted to, the pain and the shrinking taking its toll on the poor girl. She felt like Kotone was right, everything was getting bigger, or no, it was they who were getting smaller! Kris felt like she should be scared of it happening, and while in the middle of a battle with her biggest enemies, but more then anything she just felt like she was about to pass out from it all.
Then, it stopped. The noise, the shrinking, everything. Kris had had enough though, and collapsed on the floor. Kotone ran over to her side and tried to shake her friend awake.
"Kris, no!" Kotone cried. She herself was hurting from the strong soundwaves, but her worry for her friend came first.
"I-I'm okay, Kotone..." Kris replied, her voice tired sounding. She struggled, but got to her feet on her own.
Kris wiped her eyes and looked at the aftermath of the sound wave strike. Kotone and her own fears were confirmed as she stared up in awe at the now massive room around her. She and Kotone had indeed been shrunk by the weird waves after all!
"N-No way..." Kris gasped.
"Oh my goodness..!" Kotone joined Kris in shock. After worrying about nothing but Kris's safety for the whole time, Kotone had hardly enough time to register that they were in the same boat and had both been shrunk by the strange noise attack from before. She covered her mouth and gasped at how huge everything was to her now, and she now felt like she the one who was going to pass out.
"K-Kotone, no!" Kris caught her friend before she fell. Kotone recovered quickly and wiped her forehead, as if to relieve the stress of it all.
"I can't believe it! We've been shrunk, clothes and all!" Kotone cried.
"Well, you better get used to it fast, because we've still got company!" Kris warned. She pointed up to the massive figure of...
