You spat the mouse onto your palm and gently tossed him away.
You stepped forward. Making your presence known, you said, "And what isn't okay about it?"
The micen, all of them, were surprised to see you. They turned their weapons on you and prepared for the worst. Sitchol was the calmest, however. His amber glare looked into your eyes, "Why? Look around you. Go ahead, take a good long look."
You listened and scoured your gaze around the room. You then realized a horrible fact. When you entered the room, you thought there was around thirteen micen in the room, total. You were wrong. Dozens more, perhaps even a hundred, were behind appliances, on top of cabinets and inside them, along with them were crawling out of the pantry. Anywhere they could ambush Shieki, they were hidden.
Shieki was now awake and sat up on her knees. She too was frightened. She's never seen so many in her life.
"Do you see us?" Sitchol continued, "Every single one of us lost someone close because of you people. We're here to return the favor."
"On Shieki?" You inquired, "You should do your research, she never hurt anyone."
"That's hard to believe." Sitchol scoffed, "All of you leona's are the same. You think were just food to snack on or toys to play with. Maybe a few dead bodies ought to change your minds."
"That's not true!" You said, and lifted up your hands to show your palms. You're surrounded by more than enough micen to kill you, and Shieki is in the middle of it all. "Hear me out." The micen were in position, some lowered their weapons, but others still prepared to jump onto you. "Just listen to my final words then."
Now most of the micen stayed their hand.
You took a moment of silence to think of something to say, until finally you spoke, "You were right. If this happened a week ago, you were right. I did treat all of you terribly. I did prey on you helplessly and I'm sorry. I'm sorry I was like that. But over the past week, I've learnt I was wrong to mistreat you. I've... I've changed. I've made friends, both new and old. This is the longest since I haven't harmed a micen that didn't deserve it. Now I have my own colony. Now micen in my room don't go hungry. Heh... They even let me play fight with their kids." You swallowed a breath, realizing that now all the micen let their guards down, "I thought you guys were just rodents. Getting into things and tearing them up. Eating my food, ruining my floor. I was wrong to think that."
You look at Shieki, who was now sitting on her knees and smiling at you.
You nod to her, acknowledging "I was wrong. And I have Shieki to thank." You rubbed your hands nervously, and bow your head, "You all fight so your kids can live in a safer life and... The world is much safer now. No one has to die, you have my word."
The micen were silent. Very few of them held their blades up. They stood with thinking faces as they judged how much your word was truly worth. It wasn't until an orange one on the counter dropped her weapon was there any sign of life. A few others followed soon, sheathing their needles. They have no reason to fight. No cause to die for. Their children won't go hungry, their children's children won't be devoured alive. There was no reason to waste what life they had to attempt to kill you and endanger the colonies.
You continued, with one last chance, "Is there anything I can do to convince you we're not who you think we are?" You offered, "Any way to prove that I am sorry? That we, all of us, cat and mouse alike can start anew without killing anyone?"
"You know what we're capable of? Right?" One asked with their weapons drawn, "If you don't keep to your word-"
"How are any of you actually listening to her?" Sitchol sounded enraged, speaking through his teeth. "She's lying. She ate several innocent micen just a few hours ago."
"Slavers." Serena corrected him, "Slavers that look and act an awful lot like you."
"They didn't provoke her." Sitchol continued, "How do you know she'll forgive you for what you've done? We've just tried to kill her and her friend, she's playing you all for fools. This is your only chance to show micen are something to be feared and respected!"
You suddenly felt a heavy amount of force push you aside hard against the counter. A brown leona, your sister Risa, stormed past you and kicked Sitchol with an extended leg at full force. She punted him directly into a mouse hole, satisfied with a loud thud. She turned around so she could address the entire room, swinging a half empty whiskey bottle up and shouting, "Score!"
"Risa!" You said, "What are you doing?"
"Shhhh," She said with a slight drunken slurr. She faced all the micen, who have promptly picked up their weapons at the new and dire threat. Risa just ruined your chances with reasoning with them! What could she possibly do to fix this? Risa pointed to them, "Hold on! Hear me out. That guy was... an asshole. And, a little birdy... Told me that you guys were planning to burn me with my liquor." She was interrupted with a hiccup but quickly continued, "While that is a damn fine way for me to go, I'm afraid I'm not ready for it." She almost fell over but she balanced herself, "Now then, about what he said. I've never eaten a micen, in my right mind, who didn't deserve it. And all of y'all keep banishing little bastards into my room so that only reinforces the idea. You mice have the gall to straight up kill us? I'm not even mad. But I will not stand for it. That doesn't mean that I'll kill all over you... all of you, though I'd dare you to just try and attack me, but take this bargain." She cleared her throat, "If you leave now, we will forgive you. I'll even.. You know, cut back on the whole eating you guys thing. I'll give you at least some leniency. We don't wanna end on bad turns... terms. If you don't leave, by all means, take a crack at me. So what's it going to be? Do we leave as equals, or am I gonna bust some heads?"
