This choice: Tomas looked a little different... • Go Back...Chapter #4Tomas looked a little different... by: john doez The morning sun crested through their window, causing Saul to rise from his slumber , stretching in his plain shirt he wore as pajama’s and shorts he hops out of the bed and see’s his brotherly lump still under his covers. Saul lightly chuckles shaking his brother a bit, “Get up or your gonna be late for breakfast, and its been so long since i had moms home-cooked sausage so i might take a few extra’s” he whispered into his brothers blanket before it exploded with life and energy. “Im up!! Im up!!” Tomas shouts as he sprawls up and onto the floor before standing in front of his older brother with and eager smile. However something did feel… off, was it the obnoxious bed head….no. Perhaps the cute smile with blue eyes that glowed a bit before dimming to the sunlight. Hmm perhaps not but could be signs of magic in his brother too. No it was his clothes the seemed… a bit more strained but only by a slight margin. As if the boy grew a bit but now thinking about it the tiny boy seemed to look to have gained a few inches or so, and maybe not as scrawny either.
“Race you downstairs!!” Tomas shouted snapping his brother out of his thoughts, “o-ooh, yeah your on”. A simple task really being that the older teen raced down the stairs compared to his energetic but slower brother. The perks of being 5’6 and energetic compared to someone who barely made it an inch past 4ft tall. The long strides won him the day and after a few bouts of playful teasing between the two and light discussion with his parents. Saul was back once ahin with his family with double vigor and energy after a mice home cooked meal. Not to say the meals at the academy werent good but he could taste the lack of love.
“Saul, my boy, me and your mother are going to the Wheatons, we need to make sure that next batch of wheat will be heading our way and not just the dukes new bakery, we’ll be back before noon so watch the shop” his father spoke. His father was quite the broad man so he gulped and gave him an affirmative nod. Both his parents left the store leaving the two boys at home. “Alright its just you and me pal, lets say we get dressed and ready for business” Saul gladly affirms towards his younger brother who gladly shouts ‘Yeah’ before running up the stairs.
Its an hour after and the boys were beginning their first task moving wheat bags. Saul was quite nice and fit for his age and especially amongst the mages in his school and that was mainly due to his time at home being a helper, most of his classmates thought of him more as a battlemage candidate to be but Saul would rather use his magic for more homely privileges or finding new spells.little Tomas however was quite scrawny or at least…that would have been the case as Saul dropped his flour bag in surprise as he saw with his own eye’s. Tomas was moving one lf those bags, albeit barely and slowly he was managing it. As soon as Tomas got his bag to the kitchen he cheered, “hehe i did it… i managed…. 1 bag.” Tomas points out to his older brother who drops his bags and claps before picking his 3 back up. It was a very impressive feat at least to the family even though most might consider Saul the more impressive one.
Now in the kitchen they began to make new bread in part, the old bread was broken down into crumbs turned into bird feed and trail mix for the old and hunter gatherers for the village. Meanwhile they also begun to cook new bread, kneeding dough into different shapes. Saul took a moment to look over his brother from behind. ‘Hmmm he does seem.. taller.. he may have finally past the 3 foot mark last night…and his body seems.. well shaped by a small margin too’ Saul ponders. Tomas looks back at him and looks confused, “your looking at me funny, do i got dough on my face”Tomas exclaims wiping his face therefore getting said dough on his face. Saul chuckles, “Nah , i just noticed you had a little growth spurt little guy” Saul comments. Tomas smiles as he twists away pulling a bowl off the counter and sending it plummeting down into the ground. Saul reacted quickly and a flick of his wrist flung some magic onto the bowl causing it to float. Sauls eye’s glowed blue as his magic flowed out of him and he slowly puts the pot down. “Whew …be more careful buddy” Saul says before looking up to see his brothers flabbergasted expression. The boy so blown away all he could do was stare, jaw agape and with no less show of aspiration.
“S-so cool”Tomas said staring at his brother starry eyed, Saul sighs before turning back to the kitchen and getting the bread baked and ready. With the day started al that was left was to play, the waiting game
