Standing at only an inch tall, Maddie's height widely surpassed Joey's highest expectations as she exited their home, dressed in her uniform with a basketball in hand. He jumped up and down, waving his arms as he called out the name of the blonde giantess, gaining no response from her as her sneakers struck the concrete with earth shattering force.
"Maddie, Maddie, look down!" Joey continued, hoping she might take notice of him as more than a bug on the ground before she kicked off her practice for the afternoon. Although these hopes fell upon deaf ears as Maddie rolled the orange sphere along the curves of her palm, her large silver sneaker casting a shadow over him.
Realizing he was about to be crushed under his sister's foot like one of the countless insects she likely stomped into oblivion before him, the shrunken began running as fast as his short legs could manage, though it didn't help that he wasn't exactly the athletic type. Luckily he was near the end of her her foot's shadow, saving him indefinitely as he narrowly escaped the space where foot and stone met.
Though he had escaped death it was not without injury of any kind, the seismic event created from the blonde's footstep sent him back roughly fifteen to twenty feet in front of her. Leaving his skin scraped and cut, his clothing ripped in certain areas as Joey struggled to rise to his feet.
However, his problems did not stop there as the shrunken boy focused his attention upwards just in time to see Maddie begin her practice session. Her palm grasped the top of the ball, trusting it down to the ground below in front of her feet, landing close to where Joey had been standing. The sound created by the house sized orb nearly deafening him at such a close range before it reversed direction towards Maddie's waiting hand.
Joey, not wanting to relive his latest experience of nearly being crushed under his sister's footwear started running in the direction of the lawn, think he might be safe in the tall grass for the time being.
"Maddie Rooney, lines up the shot." The blonde giantess announced, narrating an imaginary game as she tossed the ball into the air, bouncing it off the backboard and into the net.
"She scores! Bam, what?" Maddie cheered, following up her statement with her own catchphrase as she jumped up and down excitedly. Meanwhile Joey's world was quite literally turned on it's head as his sister shook the ground itself under her feet, creating conditions similar to an earthquake for the one inch tall boy.
Luckily the experience was a short one as Maddie quickly regained her composure, though it was hardly over from Joey's perspective as he continued feeling tremors at a much slowly pace. Looking forward he could clearly see Maddie's feet were planted firmly on the ground, meaning something else was the cause of this aftershock.
Looking back over his shoulder Joey quickly came to the conclusion that it was Maddie's basketball bouncing back towards her, unfortunately for him he was in it's way and the giant rubbery ball had no quarrels with crushing any bug that got in it's way.
"Maddie, Maddie please! You have to help me!" Joey yelled, hoping that his words might reach his sister's eardrums. However his screaming was being completely drowned out by the sound of her basketball as it bounced along the concrete.
Before he even had time to move the dark orange sphere was hovering overhead, seemingly motionless for a moment as it reached the peak of it's bounce. Within seconds it was coming right for him like a fiery meteorite, threatening to wipe him of the face of the planet, he closed his eyes expecting the worst but nothing happened.
Looking up he saw Maddie lifting the ball into the air, having caught it just before it crushed Joey, unaware that she had just saved her very little brother in that moment. He had never been so scared in all of his life, needless to say he was no longer intrigued by the idea of shrinking, not after realizing how dangerous it was to be so tiny.
Being in a world where he was small meant that everyone was as tall as Maddie or bigger, suddenly he realized he could do anything at this size. If he tried to make food in the kitchen his mother Karen might accidentally bake him into something for herself or his gigantic sisters, he couldn't even watch Voltage on TV without fear that Liv would sit on him just to see herself on the show.
That's when Joey decided that he wanted to be big again by any means necessary, but first that meant escaping to the tall grass so he wasn't accidentally stepped on by his big sister.
Joey began running towards the lawn as fast as he could, hoping now that he could only make it there in one piece. That being said Maddie stepped forward, her foot passing over Joey as he continued running in the same direction, allowing him to see every thread under her sneaker, some area's nearly worn down to the point that they were flat. He could only estimate how many games Maddie must have worn them through, but seeing as how he can't remember the last time she got new shoes he didn't have to guess to know it was a long time.
Her foot came down hard in Joey's path, though it was far enough that it didn't cause him any harm as he ran passed her. Each sneaker was roughly the size and length of more than four school buses parked in sets of twos, terrifying Joey as he realized just how small he had become, he might as well be ant sized compared to Maddie at this rate.
Meanwhile, still oblivious to her shrunken brother's situation Maddie tossed the ball at the backboard a second time. The ball bouncing off the rim, then the garage, rolling until it blocked Joey's path. Now Maddie was coming towards him, though not under the terms he's prefer given her current size.
Will Maddie notice him?
1. Yes. Maddie notices something standing in front of her ball and through her glasses is able recognize the insect sized person as her brother Joey.
2. Yes. Maddie see him, but not as her brother Joey. Through her eyes he is nothing more than a common bug, though that doesn't mean he's safe as Maddie decides to psych herself up with a little warm up game against this bug. Taking the fact that it's standing between her and her ball as a challenge.
3. No. Maddie picks up her ball and continues her practice while Joey escapes into the grass where he'll encounter another female character. ![](https://images.Writing.Com/imgs/writing.com/writers/info/interactive-2.png) | Members who added to this interactive story also contributed to these: |
