The Cafeteria

by: The Swift Gale Author IconMail Icon
As Chez was shaking his head from the dizzying yet painful trip down the hallway, a familiar scent soon begins to fill his nostrils. "huh?" he gazes upwards in confusion only to find a rather familiar sight before him. The massive orange tables and plastic chairs adorning the corners of the room as well as the many different paneled areas besides the walls were clear signs that he was within the school's cafeteria. That and the aroma of cooked foods over the counters also helped. "Great, of all places." Chez mutters under his breath as he quickly makes his way further away from the doorway in fear of being shoved about once more. While the cafeteria of the school was constantly being inhabited by students, mainly due to many of them having odd schedules, there was barely a dozen or so students munching away at breakfast or a quick snack. As Chez gazes upon the many different species of animals residing within the mess halls, the sounds of clattering footsteps and chatter beyond the doorway continued to emanate.

Knowing all too well that trying to make his way back into the hall would be near suicide, Chez gives a defeated grunt as he had no choice but to wait for the commotion outside to die down. Hopefully the teacher wouldn't be too mad about being a bit late for class. "Well...minus will try to make the best of the situation." He says with a shrug. Seeing as how he had lunch ready for later today, it wouldn't hurt trying to get something small in his stomach to start out the day. Already familiar with how the whole system worked with getting food, Chez begins to camber his way up one of the large tray racks in order to make his way down the counters. While the Lunch ladies did have trouble hearing him, let alone noticing that he was there to begin with, they did manage to eventually recognize him...keywords being eventually. After seconds of clambering up the ladder like formation of the stacked trays, Chez finally manages to make it to the top one before giving a sigh. "Finally..." he mutters while catching his breath. Before he was able to fully embrace his victory however, to his utter shock he soon discovers that the tray he was on was quickly being lifted upwards. "w-wha!?" he stammers before crouching down for balance over the rather quick movements.

Just as Chez was about to take a glance at the stranger who mistakenly lifted him up, a container of milk was placed right before him preventing him from getting a good view. In no time, the tray soon begins to slide along the counter as the plastic surface was soon covered with an array of different food items. A large bowl of mixed fruits were placed right next to Chez as a plate of pancakes adorned the center of the tray. In a swift movement, the tray was soon lifted upwards As Chez watches several tables and students pass right by him. After seconds of traveling, the tray along with Chez were gently placed upon an empty table as the sounds of a dragging chair from nearby signaled that the unaware student was taking a seat. With the tray now perfectly still, Chez slowly takes a glimpse past the giant milk container to gaze upon the strange student. To his surprise he saw...
