Madison dressed as professionally as she could for the meeting. She wore her pants suit, with a matching blue shirt, and put extra effort into her hair that morning. She walked across campus with a resume in hand, outlining her [albeit, brief] work history and her extra curriculars in high school.
When she got to the philosophy building, she realized that it was what she expected a humanities building to look like. It was old and brick, with a grand entrance. Madison walked inside and realized the downside to having a grand, old building, it was built like a maze, and she had to go up to the third floor, then to the left, and then hang a right at the study rooms, then a left at a lecture hall, and then she got to the philosophy offices.
When she got to the office, a secretary who looked to be in her mid 20s greeted her.
''Hi, I'm here for my 5pm meeting with Dr. Paul.''
''Ah, yeah he's expecting you, feel free to just go in. His office is past the staff commons, last room on the hallway to your right''
Madison nervously walked to the door, and gave it a knock, which was greeted by a, ''Come in.''
Madison walked in, ''wow, he is even more good looking in person,'' Madison thought to herself.
''Hi, I'm Doug Paul, you must be Madison, pleasure to meet you.''
''Same, I've read a lot about you.'' Madison said.
Dr. Paul gave her a pleasantly surprised look.
''Oh,'' Madison said, ''I mean I studied your bio on the Powers website, your work is amazing.''
''Well thank you, it took a lot of help from many other good people.''
And with that, their meeting was off to a good start. Dr. Paul didn't need someone to do the heavy research or teach a class for this TA position, he already had a graduate student who was hired for that, he just needed someone who could do some catalogs for him, and just help him in an administrative capacity...running test bubble sheets, making trips to the copier, ext.
After Madison heard what he was looking for, and was offered the position, she happily accepted.
