Asteroids are less than planets. They have little or no atmosphere, which makes artificial habitats a must. Since they are so tiny, for them to support any meaningful population the inhabitants must be altered to be proportionally small. Because the dwellers of Asteroids are so small, they are extremely vulnerable to the aggression of larger worlds. Fortunately, Asteroids are so tiny and inconsequential that the largest people tend to ignore them and leave them alone, but there is always the sad exception of billions of asteroid inhabitants being wiped out or enslaved by an infinitely larger enemy just for the hell of it...
There are countless trillions of asteroids in the universe, so these are but a handful. If you want, you are free to create other inhabited asteroids, but keep in mind the inhabitants of these no larger than 1ft, but you can make them as small as you like (in proportion to the size of the asteroid).
