“Yes, about that…” Liara said cautiously. "Have you given any thought to how you wanted to spend our retirement at all?"
"Well," Shepard said with a coy smile. "I'd like to spend it mostly with you."
"Th-that's now what I meant," Liara said, barely restraining a chuckle. "I mean, what is it you want to do, now that the Reapers are behind us?" Shepard pondered the question, idly stroking her potbelly as she thought.
"I...don't really know," Shepard finally said. "We don't really need to work I guess, since between the pensions, sponserships, and all your old Shadow Broker contacts we have more money than we'll ever need, but then...shoot I dunno. It feels like I spent my whole life fighting against the Reapers, I don't know what I'm gonna do now that they're gone..." Eileen Shepard's face fell slightly at the uncertainty, but Liara put a hand on her chin and lifted it up to give her a long, sensual kiss. When they finally broke apart, Shepard was as red as a tomato and struggling to string words together.
"W-well...we could do that," Shepard said, giggling like a school girl at the thought.
"You're right, Shepard," Liara said. "We have spent so long fighting the Reapers...now that our destiny is our own...why don't we spend it enjoying what life has to offer? We can visit distant worlds, see new faces, indulging in whatever pleasures we encounter along the way. My old connections and safe houses could easily become vacation homes, after all..."
"That sounds intriguing," Shepard mused, turning to her prominent paunch, giving it a wiggle with both hands. "Maybe I should work this off before we go..."
"Why though?" Liara said suddenly, taking her hands in her own. "Our lives are our own now, Shepard. What need is there to care about your figure anymore? Why not enjoy life without having to worry about restricting yourself?"
Shepard blinked. "You mean...I should just keep eating, damn the consequences?"
Liara's blue skin took on a slightly purple hue. "I...suppose that is one way of looking at it, yes." There was a pregnant pause as the two stared into each others eyes before it was broken by Shepard laughing.
"Well, if it means I don't have to stop eating all these treats you give me, then why not indulge?" Shepard reasoned. "I'm retired, after all!"
"Oh Shepard, I -mmf!" Liara began, before she was cut off by Shepard suddenly stuffing a slice of cake into her mouth.
"Correction, actually," Shepard said with a grin. "WE'RE retired, so I don't plan on indulging like this on my own, honey-buns."
Liara instinctively chewed and swallowed the cake slice, the taste hitting her like a wrecking ball of deliciousness. No wonder Shepard was getting pudgy from her cooking, the Asari reasoned as she took a great shuddering breath. Taking hat moment of enjoyment as a sign of agreement, Shepard got to her feet, taking the cake tray in one hand and Liara's hand in the other.
"What's say we go inside and finish this cake?" Shepard said brightly, adding in an oh-so-suggestive wink. "We got a retirement to enjoy!"
Liara turned a deeper shade of purple as she was dragged into the house for what was assuredly an amorous evening. This was going to be a lot of fun, and Liara and Shepard couldn't wait to see what will happen...
