Most of you were at a loss on how to start so Linda stepped up. "You were in a car accident, dear. Do you remember?"
A look of concentration and then confusion crossed your sister's face. "N...no, I don't remember anything. Who are all of you? Who am I?"
Linda gave a sharp look to your mom, then said "You're Tabitha Connors. This is your mother, Jennifer, your dad, Paul, and your brother, Tim. We're Linda and Tony, close friends of your family."
Your mom wasn't sure what to say but your dad caught on immediately. He continued the story, acting as if she was 'Tabitha' and was recovering from the wreck. Allison easily accepted their explanation. After awhile, the nurse came in to check her over.
Your parents and hers took the opportunity to step away for a private conversation with the doctor. You were irritated at being left out but couldn't force your way in.
Eventually they returned and your dad pulled you to the side to explain. "We've all discussed it and decided that it's best to just let her be Tabitha. If she's permanently lost her memory, why should we confuse her with this incredible story of the transplant. And if it's temporary, perhaps time spent as 'Tabitha' will help her adjust."
You weren't very happy with that decision but he made it clear that it was final. Seeing that there was nothing for you to do, you wheeled yourself back to your room.
The hospital kept both of you for another day for observation before letting you return home. It was strange with Tabitha acting so different from before - but you tried to go along with your parents wishes.
Over the next several weeks, you all spent time showing Tabitha family pictures and videos, having her read through her old diaries, looking at her twitter and facebook pages, and 're-meeting' her friends. She was concerned that she couldn't remember anything (how could she? you thought, when she wasn't really Tabitha) but she quickly adapted to the expectations of your family and her friends. As she acted more & more like the sister you remembered, it became easier for you to pretend that it was in fact Allison who died in the accident and Tabitha who lived.
But eventually something changed. Tabitha tripped one day, hitting her head, causing her to regain her memories of Allison's life! But it was confusing for her as she had been living as 'Tabitha' for...
