You get out of the pod, apparently puzzled that it didn't work. You walk over to the console and start checking the diagnostics. "Hmm. It says it the transfer was successful." You turn your back and sit and the desk to investigate the issue.
Only you're not the one doing it. You watch your body acting on its own from a lower vantage point, with eyes that can't perceive color the same way. You hop out of the pod, and find your face much lower to the ground. You can see the bottom side of your work bench for the first time. A couple of furry paws grip the floor below you, and though you can't see it, you feel a brand new appendage on your backside. Once you take notice of it, it starts flapping back and forth without your consent. The machine worked! You've swapped bodies with your dog!
Your excitement whimpers out as you realize something is wrong. You expected to see your body behaving as an animal, but it's not. It's acting exactly like you, and extremely confused as to why the machine didn't work.
The other you turns around. "Sorry to drag you in here for nothing, boy. You can go play."
