Christa slammed her book onto the table in frustration. "I don't get this!" she declared in complete frustration. I looked over at her in sympathy. Christa was an art major and she was studying more theoretical concepts.
"Don't worry about it," Carrie told her. "Maybe you just need to take a break."
"Yeah," I agreed. "You look stressed."
Christa glared at me. "If I'm stressed, it's because I have an exam in a few days and a swim meet on the same day!" Poor scheduling aside, I was quite excited for the swim meet. Lisa, Carrie, Christa, and Ashley were all members of the swim team, which meant that I would have a day soon where the majority of my tormentors would be gone.
"Christa, stop glaring," Alicia chastised her. "You'll get wrinkles."
Christa crossed her arms across her chest and pouted. "Fuck you," she said to Alicia.
"Maybe next time," Alicia replied, even as she continued writing. When she finished the problem she was working on, she gave Christa her full attention. "What you need is a little encouragement."
