"What's the problem exactly?" Alicia asked Christa. The two of them briefly conversed, which did nothing to ease my worry. "I get why this is bothering you so much. The books can only take you so far. Guess I can't encourage you the way I thought I could." Christa groaned and Carrie looked on in sympathy. "Fret not. I have a new idea. The problem is the book doesn't describe it well enough. You need to associate the theory with a practical explanation."

"This sounds interesting!" Carrie exulted. "Can I learn about it, too?"

"The problem is, if both of you are learning the material, and I'm being the humble guide to your knowledge, we'll need a volunteer to demonstrate the theory."

I knew where her thought process was leading. "No." Better to nip it in the bud before I lost control.

"Erica," Alicia started saying until I cut her off.

"I said 'no.' Don't forget that I have studying of my own to do."

Alicia sighed. "Will you just cooperate? Be a team player." She grabbed me and moved me into the center of the room and started posing me in accordance to the theory that Christa was now reading aloud. I tried to wrench my arm out Alicia's grip, but she held on tight.

"I'm still not getting it," Christa declared.

"That's because Erica is struggling and her damn jacket is in the way!"
