Alice tried her hardest to not need to destroy any cities. It goes against everything she tried to protect. With arguments like
"I can't. It'll hurt me emotionally."
"I'm too weak..."
But eventually Maria had enough and said
"Alice. If you really wanna die so bad, you could've told me so."
"W-What do you mean?"
"I'm in charge here. You are just trying to make this situation better for yourself, and I think I'm tired of it. But since you do not want to destroy any cities. How's about I give you the front row to a city's destruction?"
"Uhh. W-which city?"
"Yours!"
"N-No wait! Don't destroy my city. It'll kill me as well an-"
"Does it look like I asked a question?"
"Well, techinall-"
"Shut up. You don't get to make the choices."
Maria slowly began raising her right leg and moved it on top of a big part of Alice's city. And all Alice could do is watch. One final time she screamed out
"Don't do this! I can't live without that city!"
Not before Maria put her large finger in front of Alice's head and saying:
"Ssssh. Just enjoy the show!"
Maria took her finger away again and stomped that part of the city. Again and again. Alice was tearing up at this point. Watching as hundreds of lives were being ruined by this goddess. But Maria appeared to be fairly unamused by it. When around half of the city was destroyed under Maria's feet she said:
"Changed your mind yet?"
But Alice was lost in disbelief. She could only stutter out one sentence.
"W-why do you enjoy this?!"
Maria almost looked shocked because of her rage. But quickly responded with.
"Those people, they're useless. And they're ruining our planet. I wanna make sure that those horrible and crappy creatures are extinct."
"B-But. You can help them and save the environment at the same time!!"
"That's what someone as small as you thinks. Helping that useless city isn't going to change anything. And even if I encouraged people to be better towards it just telling crap wouldn't make a difference. Nowhere in the news is someone that said something that changed the environment. Actions are what matter Alice."
"Why would you use that like this?!"
"They won't do anything Alice! If I can prove that change has to be made then they'll listen to me. Now enough distractions. You clearly don't want to destroy this hopeless city. So I'll do it instead."
"N-No. Please!"
Maria completely ignored Alice's desperate hopes and began stomping on building left and right again. When about 5 buildings remained Maria stepped in front of them and crushed them with her butt. She stood back up and said:
"Well. That was boring..."
"Ugh! How many of these cities have you even ruined?!"
"Personally. I think I lost count, but certainly more then 100."
"God, you monster!"
Alice angrily started punching Maria's hand and struggled while Maria watched unphased. She said:
"You lost your favorite city. Alice, and you even surrendered."
"I don't care!! I've been protecting that city for years!"
"Hehe... You certainly seem mad. Hows about we have a little fight then? You clearly are not useful for my plans."
Alice suddenly regretted her choices. And before she could even say anything Maria put her back on the ground and said:
"You want revenge for your city?! Come get it!"
Alice looked down on the ruins of the city. Her purpose was one she failed to follow. And although fighting Maria would be against the odds. What else was there left at this point? Alice grabbed some ashes and let them fall back down, she decided to...
