This choice: "...a new sport that has been imported into our school." • Go Back...Chapter #9"...a new sport that has been imported into... by: Unknown When it came to sport, the school had surprisingly few of them. There was Air Dashing, a sport that involved flying as fast as you could through hoops to beat an opponent or a certain time limit, which was one of Dimitri's favorite activities. Basically, it was the dragon's equivalent of Athletics.
Another sport was Tail Ball, where the players had to slyly steal away a ball from another dragons tail and throw it into a net to score a point. Dimitri had heard that his mother had been part of it when she was a little older than him.
But that was it. There was some unofficial hybrid versions, but they weren't much fun. Hearing that a new sport was being imported into the school had interested several students that were into physical activities, including Dimitri.
After he silenced the whispering that had broken out amongst his class, Volteer said, "Yes, yes, yes, it is wonderful to know that you young ones are also interested to strengthen your bodies as well as your minds. Now, I don't know much about this new sport, and rightfully so, seeing that I'm simply just a history teacher, but I at least know that it's called Ru-Ka, which, roughly translated to our language, means hoop-ball."
Volteer walked to his desk, opened his drawer, and pulled out a stack of papers. "Now, these pamphlets will give you more information about the sport, where and when it takes place," he continued, handing out the papers to his class, "If you have any other questions, I advise that you report to Terrador, who I have heard will be the couch for Ru-Ka."
When Volteer arrived at his table and gave him one of the pamphlet, Dimitri practically snatched it out of his hand and began to read it earnestly. It was a strange sport, promising many bruises, cuts and serious injuries, but it looked very fun.
A series of paragraphs and illustrations explained how the game worked: one team, depending on what circumstances, obtained a ball, and they had to fly it through a large hoop at the opponents side of the field.
It looked like one of those hybrid sports, a mix between Air Dashing and Tail Ball, but instead of slyly depriving someone of the ball, players had to do it by brute force!
Dimitri was giddy with excitement. Finally a sport where he could show off his ariel skills and physical strength at the same time. He could imagine it now, standing victorious before a crowd of applauding dragons, battered but showing off his trophy or medal that he won.
Looking at Ash, Dimitri saw that he had a dreamy expression too on his face, indicating that he had the same daydream of glory. The black dragon grinned. He could tell without asking that Ash was going to enter along with him.
O, what fun this was going to be!  indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
