Chapter #9After the test by: Galan   The test went about as well as they expected, Sasuke's stubbornness prevented him from assisting Naruto and Sakura from trying to get anything done. Kakashi simply swatted them away effortlessly, getting under their skin by not taking them seriously. Eventually time ran out as Naruto growled while Sakura looked dejected while Sasuke scoffed, none of them got the bells.
"Does this mean we have to go back to the academy?" Sakura asked.
"Only you and Naruto get to go back to the academy." Kakashi gave an eye smile, Sasuke perked up, "as for you Sasuke." Kakashi paused, "you should quit being a ninja." Sasuke growled.
"What the hell did you say?!" Sasuke demanded.
"You heard me, you're too much like a child to take this seriously." Kakashi continued.
"HOW DARE YOU?!" Sasuke roared as he charged him, but he was easily stopped by Kakashi and pinned down.
"See?" Kakashi asked, "I'm very disappointed in you, Sakura and Naruto got what this test meant, but you, you saw them as fodder, as weights to hold you back."
"What, meaning?" Naruto asked.
"Teamwork." Sakura gaped, "we worked together and offered it to Sasuke but he rejected us."
"Correct." Kakashi gave a smile, "though if I have to fault you for anything is giving up too easily, you gave up after one attempt and expected him to come to you, understandable, but in a dire situation you can't allow yourselves to allow emotions to rule your judgement."
"And what if we did that but he still refused, what then?" Naruto asked.
"Then at least you tried." Kakashi said. He paused, "the point is you can't afford to slip up, for you could find yourselves in an impossible situation where you can't win, for example." Kakashi pointed the kunai at Sasuke, "Sakura, kill Naurto or Sasuke dies!" Sakura gasped at that.
"You see?" Kakashi said, "nobody wins when your disorganized, when even one weak link exists, you all have to function as one."
"They'd slow me down, I have to gain power, no matter what!" Sasuke spat.
"Your brother had help as well." Kakashi said as Sasuke was stunned, "that's how he got to where he is, do you understand now." Sasuke scoffed.
"So, it's really over, huh?" Sakura asked.
"Well, you did get the point of the test, and you did try to get Sasuke to cooperate." Kakashi hummed, "I feel that deserves a second chance." The two of them lit up, "but this is your last one." Kakashi tied Sasuke up to the poll.
"I'll be back after I get my stuff, you two can eat the food I prepared, you've earned it." Kakashi said, "however, do NOT give any to Sasuke, that is his punishment." Kakashi disappeared leaving the two, Naruto and Sakura looked at each other and offered him food.
"Here." Naruto said.
"What are you doing?" Sasuke asked.
"We're a team now, like it or not, that means we look out for one another." Sakura said, Sasuke scoffed.
"Whatever." Sasuke said as they began feeding him. After a while Kakashi returned seemingly angry.
"What did I just say?" Kakashi demanded.
"We don't care what you said, Sasuke is our teammate, we're feeding him." Naruto said.
"Yeah, so take your order and shove it." Sakura agreed.
"Oh, you think you're a team now?!" Kakashi asked, "then there's only one thing for me to say." Kakashi paused, "you." Another paused, "passed."
"Wha?!" They said.
"You passed." Kakashi smiled.
"But, we disobeyed your order." Naruto said.
"True, but you didn't abandon Sasuke when he needed you the most, and out there, that's more important than anything." Kakashi said, "remember, those who abandon the rules are trash, but those who abandon their teammates is worse than trash." The two of them nodded.
"After we release Sasuke, meet me tomorrow for your first official mission." Kakashi said.  indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
