As she hurried to leave, her mother knocked on the door. "Who is it?" Hannah asked. She looked up, to see her mother's head poking through the open door. "It's mom. Just wanted to tell you to have a good time. Me and Maria have had this thing planned since when we saw Luis try to protect you, when you guys were four. It was so darling," Hannah smiled, and then blushed. "Mom. Please, before I get so embarrassed, I won't be able to go," "Well, it's the truth. You guys are just....so right for each other," Her mother opened the door all the way. "When do you think you'll be back?" Her mother asked. Her mother's name was Abby. "I don't know. I'll call you when the movie gets done. Okay?" Hannah walked over to the door, and stared into her mother's eyes. "Sure. Don't forget, that if I don't see you tonight, that you must watch your brother tomorrow," Hannah sighed. "Okay," Hannah took to the steps, two at a time, and walked out the door.
There were times she liked living in the city. It wasn't directly in the city, but a small suburb outside it. The neighborhoods we good. There wasn't any fights, murders, or fires, unless they just happened from something inside the house. They even have a country look to them. Then there were the times she hated living in the city, or the suburb. She hated not having a large yard, and having the privacy. She lived to deal with it. She has for sixteen years.
She walked slowly over to Luis' house, which was across the street, and three houses down, from the house directly across from hers. He wasn't outside, so she figured he was either still getting ready, or he was waiting for her inside, which was something he never did.
She stopped at the door, ready to knock, when she stopped herself. She never knocked. Why start now? She opened the screen door, and walked inside. Maria was sitting at the table, reading the paper. "Hi Maria," Hannah said. "Oh, hi Hannah. Luis is still getting ready. This is the first time I've seen him take more than an hour and a half with a girl. And he yells at me for taking the time I do in the bathroom," She said with a laugh. "Yeah, guys are like that I guess," Hannah said taking a chair next to Maria, who had set the paper on the table. She took a sip of her coffee. "What movie are you going to see?" She asked. "Oh, I'm not sure. Luis was going to surprise me," She replied. "Oh," Maria took another sip, and she set the cup back on the table.
