Ever since she was rescued from the shadow world and introduced to Yu Narukami and his group, Rise was infatuated with him. It has been a few months since her rescue and it was now summer break. Over that course of time, Rise tried to catch Narukami's attention and hopefully make him like her. But he was quite difficult.
Every conversation with the young man seem like a flirtatious one, his answers usually making her fluster. Beyond that, however, Narukami never made any advances. In fact, his actions seem to indicate that he was trying to get away from her. Rise wasn't going to give up easily, though.
After a few nights of looking at the mirror and comparing herself to Chie and Yukiko during the day, Rise came to a rather far-fetched conclusion.
'Does he not like...short girls?'
He did seem to spend more time with Chie and Yukiko than with her, both of whom were taller. Even then, Narukami didn't seem interested in either one of them. She was beginning to feel disappointed and a bit heart-broken, foolishly believing that her height had something to do with it. Deep down, she knew that wasn't the case, but being taller wouldn't hurt...It would certainly get everybody's attention. Perhaps even his.
Rise slapped her mind back into reality. There was no point in trying to dwell on something that she couldn't change. It was a free day for herself and no one in the groups had plans. 'A good day to focus on moi,' She thought.
She put on her summer clothes and was stepping out of the Tofu shop, where she worked with her Grandmother. As she was leaving-
