The three made their way into the woods several miles away, the villagers may not have been foolish enough to assault 3 well armed riders in passing… but when those riders bedded down for the night? Melos and his escort needed their strength for tomorrow, which meant getting as much rest as they could, and that meant a night of rest that wasn’t spent watching for foolish, vengeful villagers.
So once they were deep enough in that they were sure no one would bother them, they made camp for the night… unknowingly right next to fairy ring.
“M’lord, we’ve pitched camp right next to a fairy ring… we should move camp else where” Dirk said gravely, after returning from scouting.
Kelos and Damon share a look. While both were well aware of the sorts of strange trickery the fae would visit on man and woman alike… it was already starting to get dark, it was much too late move.
“It’s far too dark Dirk, as much as I’d like to, I’m afraid we are stuck here until morning… perhaps if we left them a a peace offering? Some of our food and some pipe weed perhaps?”
“Well… maybe it will appease them into leaving us be… or they might decide to give gifts of there own… and that’s assuming they like the offering, Fae are fickle, you know.” Damon says.
Dirk nods. “Yes… but better to leave an offering than not.”
So with that said the trio leave an offering in the middle of the odd ring of colorful toadstools, beginning the residents for mercy this night… all the while feeling as though they were watched. The moment they turn and return to camp, the residents of the ring appear from hiding and descend upon the offering, and after a moment’s considerations decide:
