This odd little costume catches your eye. The thing was child sized, yet carried the label of adult. However, aside from that oddity it was otherwise a very by the book christmas elf. Red shoes with a bell on the curled toe, dark green tights, a hat with a similar curve to the toe, two plastic ear points and a tunic that seemed to be on loan from Peter Pan. Yet this costume...
The price tag says "CLEARANCE! $75," you check your wallet, $24.31. You've never done anything like this before, but for some unexplainable reason you have to have this costume. The surrounding environment doesn't exactly discourage such thoughts. The racks were stuffed and offered ideal cover, there weren't any cameras or even windows from that matter. Even its size demanded its theft.
You look around to make sure no one rounds the corner, reach out, and shove it quickly into your pocket, a perfect fit.
As you leave you nod to the old man at the counter who nods back in turn. Then, just as your about to leave he look back up at you.
"Why don't you try it one before you leave? See how it fits."
You rush to the door, its locked tight. The old man is looking very intently at you.
"I've been needing a new helper for quite some time now," he said, his voice growing deeper and louder, "they keep getting lost in the snow trying to escape. You think they'd learn wouldn't you? Well I guess I shall have to deal with it until they do. You wont try any of that will you?"
You tremble in fear as the now bearded old man steps towards you and can only watch as he pulls the costume out of your pocket and pushes it into your hands, "What are you going to do to me?"
"Oh," he said, "Well, you see, Im making you into one of my elf workers. Unfortunately, the costume only works when the victim, you, puts it on of his own free will. However, I have found a way around that! They can either be one of my elves, or one of my reindeer." He said as he withdrew a larger bag from his enormous red coat with a brown costume in it. "Oddly enough, no ones gone for the second option... well, there was the one. Anyway, the door is locked, theres no way out, so you'd best make your choice."
