Pam walked into the kitchen and prepared dinner for her and her son. She quickly set the table, while Kody grabbed the silverware and the glasses out of the cupboard. The deal was that Pam usually prepared the food, and Kody would take care of the dishes afterwards.
When the chicken legs were done and the plates with the green beans were finished, Pam poured the drinks so that the two of them could enjoy their meal. Pam and Kody would take turns praying for the food before they would start eating their dinner.
“So, how was school today, buddy?” Pam asked her son.
“It was fine.” Kody replied. “I got an A in science and a B in History today…”
“Good! So did you go over to Edward’s house after school?”
“Yeah… Although I didn’t stay for long, because they were having people over for dinner. Eddy’s mom called him up just when we were playing video games. Eddy got a new game which he hid in one of his drawers. He couldn’t find it, but I helped him find it in that big dresser of his…” Kody explained.
“So, did Eddy tell about the company he was having?” his mom wondered.
“No… It was really weird… I just overheard their phone conversation…” Kody responded. “I-I can’t explain it, but ever since I woke up from my nap this afternoon, I’ve been seeing through walls and I’ve been hearing things from very far away. I mean, is that normal, mom?”
Pam just stared at her son in silence for a moment, while maintaining a serious look on her face.
“Well… I guess you just have very sensitive hearing, Kody… It’s a gift!” she replied.
“But, mom… How do you explain the fact that I can see through walls? And how was I able to see the contents of Eddy’s dresser drawers without even opening them?” the boy wondered. “I mean, isn’t that kinda weird?”
“Well, you’re discovering some new talent or gift, Kody! I wouldn’t worry too much about it…”
“But, mom…” Kody continued. “How is it possible, that I’m standing in front of our house, and I can see and hear everything that’s going on in the Anderson’s house, which is across the street?”
“I-I don’t know, Kody… Just calm down… Maybe you need to go to bed early… We’ll see how you feel in the morning, alright?” Pam replied.
“I-I’m a little scared, mom…” Kody said softly. “I feel different… I feel like, something about me is changing, and I don’t know what it is… What’s happening to me, mom? Suddenly, I feel like I’m seeing everything… I’m hearing everything… It’s so weird… It’s growing stronger… Every minute, something inside of me is growing stronger…”
“Oh, Kody… You’re going to be alright… Don’t worry…” Pam assured her son, as she leaned over and gave him a kiss on his forehead, hoping it would calm him down and put his concerns to rest.
As soon as they were done eating dinner, Kody cleaned up the table and put away the dishes. He loaded the dishwasher and took out the trash. Pam then went to her bedroom, and Kody went to his. He changed into a t-shirt and shorts, which he normally wore when he went to sleep.
