... then you must let me use one of your friends'mouths to speak." The voice said after spending a minute calculating the least objectionable demand possible.
"What?" Raven said. Slightly startled by this rather unexpected request. "Why? You can communicate with us just fine through the ritual."
"Yes, well..." Talarok mused out loud. "Maintaining the ritual from my end requires a considerable effort and a great deal of concentration, were I to be able to both view and speak through a more physical channel in the mortal realm, the burden would be lessened. Your pink-haired friend looks suitable-"
"No! N.O. I am not getting posessed by a demon!" Jinx yelled at the relay stone as Raven shot her a cold look to remind her that getting agitated will only make matters worse.
"My dear girl!" The demon said with a laugh and a voice as soothing as a creature of ultimate evil could convey. "The process could hardly be considered outright posession! It's more like.. becoming a miniature focal point for my esscence. Just enough for me to convey my message verbally-"
"She said no, Talarock." Raven said, trying her best to suppress the notion that she was defending her friends.
A sigh seemed to eminate from the stone, temporarily raising the temperature in the room about five degrees
"Look, Pandora. You are the first person from the mortal realm to contact me in millenia; and while I do thank you for the opportunity to conduct buisness once again, you are far to unwilling to pay the price for the information you seek- or any price, for that matter. If you continue to refuse to offer up anything from your side of the table, I'm afraid that your going to have to take your buisness elsewhere. And I assure you, no one in the lower circles is as patient as I am when it comes to these sort of deals-"
"I shall serve as the dark one's voice!" Starfire suddenly spoke up.
"No!" Raven said, no longer able to fully hide her concern for her companions. "You don't have to do this!"
"But Ra- Pandora, Trigon is a terrible foe who destroyed our world once before. If he is able or will be able return, then we might not be able to undo the damage he will surely cause."
"Red's right, Pandora." Talarok added, trying his best not to sound to excited at the surprise presence of a volunteer and finally understanding why exactly Pandora was so interested in learning about Trigon. "If you know anything about him, which you have proved to me you do, then you must know that he can easily turn the mortal realm to ash and eradicate all life on Earth should he ever return to his full power."
Raven closed her eyes. Shutting herself off from the world while her inner selves rigorously debated the pros and cons about the situation at hand. She had sworn to herself before first making contact that she would not under any circumstances sacrifice anyone to get the information she needed; but Starfire was offering to take on a risk all on her own. She was also no feeble minded fool who would submit as soon as a demon tried to apply any pressure; but at the same time, Starfire was emotional and far too trusting to be dealing with these... creatures. After two intermissions and the Personification of Anger getting thrown out of the meeting for violent misconduct, the Inner Ravens agreed, at a vote of 8 to 7, that the current risk brought on by the situation at hand was outweighed by the need to know if Trigon was making another attempt at invading earth.
"Alright," Raven finally said as her eyes pried open. " 'Red' will surve as your conduit."
"Thank you, friend Pandora," Starfire said with a nod. "I shall not fail you."
"Wonderful!" Talarok's sudden good mood was causing the mist invading Raven's room to rise slightly, causing Jinx to cough. "Approach the relay stone, girl. Look deep into the crevices, and clear your mind of all unneeded thoughts."
Starfire nodded and began making her way to the stone. As she approached, a litany of unclean words spilled into the room, causing the mist in the room to darken and thicken further. Raven was tempted to destroy the stone here and now before things got out of hand, but she had to know if Trigon was still out there, waiting for the time to be right. The very thought of her father still weilding some level of power forced her to stay her hand, and watch as the seen infront of her played out.
A few moments later, the stream of demonic profanity ceased it's flow, and Starfire turned around to face the others.
"A-hem." Starfire cleared her throat and hummed a few bars, as if testing the ranges of her voice.
"I suppose this will do," Talarok said, evidentially deciding to stick with the most monotone voice Starfire was capable of.
"Yes, well, you got what you wanted Talarok, now answer my question: is Trigon still powerfull? Where is he? And is he recovering?"
"Very well, Pandora, you have earned the right to some answers. First, Trigon is indeed still a force to be reckoned with in the lower circles; though he isn't the policy jaugernnaut that he used to be. Second, I don't know where he is, he's only been acting through proxies. Third, I would deffinately say that he's slowly getting back to the status that he once held-"
While Raven listened to these revalations in dumbstruck horror, Jinx noticed that Starfire's voice was slowly getting deeper with each word that was said. Not wanting to stay behind long enough for a possessed alien to tear her to shreds, the pink-haired hexer made a move for the door, only to find that the mist had condensed so much as to prevent her from pushing past it to the door.
"-And fourth! My dear Pandora, you might have the opportunity to meet him very soon!"
"Azeroth, Metrion-" Raven attempted to form a shield around herself, but it was already too late.
"Sarbles!" Starfire yelled out, summoning an enormous vortex into the room that began pulling Jinx and Raven into the swirling black and red beyond.
"This is your fault!" Was the last thing that Raven heard before the vile energy overwhelmed her.
