Chapter #3

Asuka's unbelievable loss

    by: Fox Author IconMail Icon
Asuka had always prided herself on her top-notch physical well being. So much so it was little wonder why she would ace any swimming competition at her, Shinji, and Rei's (along the rest of their friends/companions) school.

Asuka's only real competition seem to be from Rei Ayanami, the almost constantly silent girl was a natural swimmer and the water seemed to love her just as much as it loved Asuka.

There wasn't a single event where the two didn't place First and Second (coincidence you decide). In the beginning Asuka was always the first to finish but slowly Rei began to take that from her. From that point onward the two were constantly switching victory positions, something that brought on a lot of fanfare from the school-body. But then the unthinkable occurred...

Asuka had placed fourth! It was inconceivable it was impossible it was true.

Hikari could only watch with concern as Asuka stormed off back into the locker-room. She knew her close friend was disappointed and knowing the redhead the way she knew her Asuka was in no mood to talk to anyone walking the face of the Earth.

Shinji and Rei as well watched their fellow comrade-in-arms and friend (or acquaintance to Rei) walk away no doubt disappointed with the outcome. Shinji being close to both girls wanted to go speak with Asuka until Rei stepped in.

"I sense now would not be the proper time to speak with Souryu. Doing so will only bring harm to your physical well-being, Ikari." she explained rather seriously. One thing about Rei she never pulled any punches the few times she spoke and was always straight to the point.

Shinji sighed before nodding, guess it would be smart to allow Asuka some time to herself...

Within the locker room Asuka screamed in pure unadulterated frustration. Her winning record, her image, her happiness, all tainted now by this one inexcusable loss. She growled, teeth clenched tight, before slamming the door to her locker shut the ear-shattering sound blasting throughout the entire room.

How could this have happen, how did she let herself lose this way. The loss to Ayanami wasn't even a bother to her now, the fact that she lost to Rei along with two others was what was driving her insane.

After changing into her casual attire, Asuka slammed her right fist into the bench build beside the lockers, lucky for her no blood was drawn. While still frustrated her anger was beginning to tire her out so she moved over to the nearby sink.

Asuka stood there for minutes on end, breathing in and out after she had applied some water to her flustered face. Staring upward at her reflection the redhead sighed her anger finally starting to calm down, though she was still in no mood for any sort of conversation.

But if there was one thing about Asuka that was constant outside of her short-temper it was her will to win, to prove her worth to everyone in and around her. Slowly a smirk began to form across her once frustrated lips. She would bounce back from this, even if she had to take some time off any upcoming competitions, she vowed to return better, faster, stronger then ever before.

Yes Asuka Langley Souryu would not let this loss stop her. No the second child would return to the water and make it bow before her might. This much she was certain of.

You have the following choices:

1. Asuka begins to train the natural way

2. Asuka wants to get stronger at a faster rate
