The first conclusion you draw is you should try out the gun by yourself in your dorm room, just to make sure it works before you start doing anything in public. So you get off the train, head back to campus and go back to your room. Your awful roommate Megan calls you a loser as you walk into your room, and you eagerly take the gun out, changing the setting to "transform."
Imagining yourself, with the ability to fly, you point the gun at yourself, close your eyes and fire. Nothing happens. The beam from the gun feels vaguely warm on you, but that's it. You imagine yourself flying, and nothing happens. You look at the gun and wonder if it's a piece of junk, before you remember Dr. Marks squished under the secretary's toes. You decide to try harder.
Next you jump in the air. You fall back towards earth, like usual, but you're sure something felt a little different, almost as if you landed a little more softly than normal. You try again, this time using your arms to push against the air as if you were in a swimming pool. It works like a charm, and you find not only that you can stay up in the air, but you can actually propel yourself upwards. Apparently this works basically like you're swimming, except that you're flying through the air. You wonder if you can accelerate like that, and you bet you can, but it's hard to tell in the cramped confines of your dorm room.
Your mind starts to race with the possibilities. It's starting to get dark out; maybe you can wait for nightfall and start flying around outside. Then you think some more about the gun. Why couldn't you shrink yourself and start flying around your dorm? You could probably spy on quite a few people like this. It'd be fun too!
