Grim Decision, Hefty Consequences

'My family will be killed if I go against orders... God forgive me for this.'

Wasting little time, You began delving into your mind for the magical link all humans possessed but few were aware of. Grasping it within a few seconds you cross your arms with palms faced outward to easily channel the magic across a large area. Concentrating on your 14 fellow soldiers, you speak the necessary words to finalize the direction and form the magic would take.

"STRICTURA CALLUM!" Within seconds every soldier around you groaned in displeasure as your spell took effect. Starting from their feet and quickly working its way up their body's, the 'iron' solidified around them. Luckily they have practiced this once before and would not panic like in the first attempt. That did not completely calm them as the effect continued upward.

The dragons reared their heads back in preparation to below their flames toward your group. Quickly delving back into your magical link you nearly scream the next spell.

"TERRESTRIS MACERIA!" As the flames leaped from the dragon's maw's, the earth in front of them suddenly rose with intense speed. Though it was a thin wall, that in combination with your first spell nearly drained you as you began to wobble in your stance. The rock wall that was created began to glow red and then white hot as the dragons continued to belch fire into the wall.

"Whatever you do NOT break that black stone in the center. DO YOU HEAR ME!"

"Yes, Sir!" everyone screamed in unison. 'Black stone?... Does he mean the egg? But why is that to be protected when we destroy everything else.'

As if on cue, after finishing your mental thought the wall crumbled in molten shards as the dragons charged through. As they were closing in they began to rear their heads back for a second volley of flame.

"STAGNUM THOLUS!" you screamed. Water from the small pools around you quickly formed into a giant ball of water between your group and the dragons. The dragons halted slightly and ceased building their flames to stare directly at you. You felt something stab into your mind and heard a great booming pair of voices inside your head.

'You have come...? We have waited long for you rider. Our only request is that you treat our son well.'

'What?... How... who is this? What is a rider? What's going on?!'
The strange presence left your mind at that instant and the dragons finally released their flames into the water. Steam quickly billowed through the tunnel and blocked any sight that the already dim cave offered. You heard screaming as human and dragon alike traded blow after blow. You could not decipher who had the upper hand however as your vision blurred. The drain from the spells cast seemed to be to much to bear adding on the strange presence that entered your mind left you disorientated.

Finally losing your balance, you fell hard on the rocky floor striking your head on the ground. All around you was blackness but the screams continued. They never ceased until one last garbled cry and then blissful silence.

You have the following choices:

1. Wake up to a dragon

2. Wake up to the captain
