shakespeare's original, macbeth, into a politcal drama about the dismissal of Kevin Rudd.
Dethroning of K.Rudd
Characters:          Julia Gillard: Macbeth
                   Wayne Swann: Lady Macbeth
                   Kevin Rudd: King Duncan
                   Tony Abbott: Macduff

Standing outside a press conference, with Kevin Rudd telling Australia a new policy. Julia Gillard waits outside.
Julia Gillard: Another crap policy, like Australia cares about the “stimulus” package. All it will stimulate is my desire, and need for power, but should I really give Rudd the boot? I mean, he has done so much for me, gave me so many opportunities that I’m gracious for, and he trusts me more than anyone else.
Why am i not satisfied with the power I have now? Only one man is than me, only one man rules me, but only one man is known as Prime Minister.
Maybe that’s it, i am fully succumb with jealousy. I’m not completely satisfied with being second best, and i have to be number one. But can the mere determination drive me to commit such a dirty deed?
Enter Wayne Swann
How did it go? Another fail?
Wayne Swann:  Mr. Rudd has asked for you.
Julia Gillard: We will put this issue away immediately, sealed under lock and key, i don’t want these thoughts driving me crazy. I should be thankful for the trust Rudd has put in me, and not break the trust just because I’m power hungry.
Wayne Swann:  Was it through starvation that these thoughts controlled you? Have your hopes not been fed? As they look so sickly green and pale, so fragile and undependable, as I will consider our friendship just as equal.
I knew you were too afraid, your courage stands in the shadows of your desire, just like you stand in the shadows of Rudd.
Julia Gillard: Speak of this no more, I don’t want these dark thoughts possessing my brain. I’ve done everything I’ve been asked for the country, I just can’t do it.
Wayne Swann: Why tell me such a thought if you were too afraid in the first place? It’s like promising a starving man food, or a dying man a cure, then destroying it in front of their face, watching their hopes destroy as well, just because you’re too afraid to reap the benefits.
Julia Gillard:  it’s not that, it’s that I’m too afraid to lose everything I’ve worked for, my career is far too important to me.
Wayne Swann:  We won’t fail, the news polls are on a dramatic decent, Rudd is not wanted, and with him in charge, labour have no chance of staying in for another term.
There is a board meeting on tonight, Rudd will be absent, now is the only chance to obtain the leadership. We will blame it on the “faceless” men, and say it was all their idea.
Julia Gillard:  Won’t they believe it was us? When we are the ones suggesting it?
Wayne Swann:  When we show so much gratitude in thanking him, and remorse in seeing him go, why would they question us?
Julia Gillard: Alright, it will be done tonight. Rudd will rule no more.
Exits
After the dismissal of Rudd.
Several reporters enter, cameras are flashing everywhere. Wayne Swann enters.
Wayne Swann: What is all this nonsense?
Enter Tony Abbott.
Tony Abbott: oh Wayne, you must be ecstatic with your new role as deputy prime minister behind Julia.
Wayne Swann: I’m shocked!  I did not see this coming!
Enter Julia Gillard.
Julia Gillard: Thank you, thank you. But we must remember Kevin, he led the country with true respect, such a loyal compatriot, his leadership will be dearly missed.
Wayne Swann pulls Julia Gillard aside.
Wayne Swann: Congratulations Prime Minister (to Julia). I told you to have faith in me, and my promise rang true. But remember the prophecy, “Beware of Tony Abbott, beware of work place choices”. We must take out Abbott, call an election immediately, and schedule it for the 21st of August. Let’s prove the prophecy wrong, and do what must be done.
