Story world: Germany during WWII, a strange planet a few billion miles away named Tralfamadore, and a small town named Ilium.
Review: The story is so disjointed that I found it hard to follow. Each chapter consists of multiple scenes that move from place to place and to me, didn't make sense. The main character, Billy Pilgrim has somehow gained the ability to travel through time; back to his birth, back to his time during WWII, and even into the future, and, with no explanation how, back and forth to Tralfamadore.
I had to force my way through it. I have no idea why this is considered a classic.
Sorry to be so negative about this, but the book is supposed to be an anti-war novel, but I didn't see that in the story. The author references the bombing of Dresden, Germany many times but gives very little description of the horrible carnage the fire-bombing of that city created.
All in all, I'm glad I finished it, but it was, for me, a difficult read.
