October 3 - Plot: Beginning
Oct. 03: - Plot: Beginning (Where does your story start?)
(1) Describe your protagonist's life in the beginning ("Ordinary World" or "Stasis") of the story. Brainstorm ways you could establish normality through action and dialog to avoid boring your reader.
Arlynn works in a graphics art department. Her boss is always making her 'fix' her work and she feels stuck and unhappy with the job. Her boyfriend, Lance, thinks she could do better and does not understand why she is not getting a promotion. Lance is also manipulative and controling - projecting his unfaithfulness onto her by not trusting to be with anyone but him or Sheila. He also claims to not like Sheila. Arlynn feels small and trampled in the Big City, butshe sucks it up as just the way it is.... until....
Behind Arlynn's back he and her friend steal some of her designs and pass them off to Sheila's boss and she gets a promotion.
(2) Describe the inciting incident or trigger ("Call to Adventure") that prompts your protagonist(s) to embark on this story's journey (whether literal or metaphorical) and face the conflict. This incident could be large and obvious like a death or disaster, or it could be seemingly insignificant, such as an offhand comment by another character.
Arlynn finds out her boyfriend is sneaking around on her and having an affair with her supposed friend. They are also stealing Arlynn's graphic art designs and passing them off as here friend's so that she gets a promotion. Arlynn realizes that she can't stay in this situation any longer. Things open up from there..
