Periods
Prompt: We write about our periods.

What an embarrassing nasty subject! Don't you wish men had them? They would know how we feel. I had problems with my periods for years. They got heavy and I hated to go anywhere. I felt like Carrie on Prom night in Stephen King's movie. Great Grandma said it was the curse. She was right!

Years later, I found out I had fibroids. I went on birth control pills and my periods were worse. It wouldn't stop. I had a blood test and more birth control pills to slow it down. IT finally slowed down.

I once had to lift a man out of a chair at work. {I work in an old county home taking care of people. Mitch refused to get up and go to his room.} My period bled heavy for three hours. After having hernia surgeries and bowel obstruction surgeries, I no longer lift anyone. Forget it.

I had two tests for uterine cancer and after the third one four years later, I found out I had a trace of uterine cancer. It had just started. I had a total hysterectomy. Everything was gone including my cervix. I don't miss periods. I still have hot flashes. Periods suck. At least, I no longer have that problem. Having periods is the disadvantage of being a woman. We survive but wish women didn't have to have them.
