Tempus regit [Week 14 entry]
Tempus regit
We measure it's passing by sunrise and -set
and pinprick-like stars against darkest velvet.
A seed sprouts and grows, becoming a flower,
while young Robert Lamm tries to reckon the hour.
Mick often sang it was all on his side,
but he was no master of time or of tide,
and Soran defined it a hot crucible -
a concept that I find quite unusable.
It flows through our lives, creating our past,
defining each moment from first to the last.
Though we cannot touch it, we're firm in its grasp;
its sting, at the end, like the deadliest asp.
Prompt: TIME. Write a poem inspired by time. Seconds, minutes, hours, etc. Or even its value, wasting time, buying time, etc.
