a journey of physical recovery

Innocently, it starts as a cold
with runny nose and coughs
as the days pass by
it sinks into my chest.
X-ray reveals pneumonia.
Antibiotics galore along
with steroids I begin

after a couple weeks, I feel
weaker and Short of Breath
To the ER I go and there
I was admitted with pleural
effusions and pneumonia;
IV antibiotics are begun
a thoracentesis performed,
after several recovery days, I go home.

Time passes and weaker I feel
I ask the doctor, do you want me come in?
He orders an X-ray
pneumonia, pneumothorax and
empyemas were found,
to the the ER I go!

Admitted again with fever.
Antibiotics, chest tubes and steroids
after a week I go home.
The doctors are watching me like a hawk.
