Perhaps because an empath
or the fact I 'see' the words I say or write.
Perhaps it is just me being different.
Choose what and how I say what I do
in a conscious choice.
Write about joy.
Should be easy, right? But no.
Joy is a word for the supreme--
at least for me. An epic moment,
an epiphany, perhaps.
Happiness when my children were born,
thrilled when that pain of eruption departed.
Ecstatic when my husband declared us stuck.
All real, long lasting, depths of emotion
that many instances can provoke.
Joy would/should be transcendence,
a rapture, a delicious explosion, further, farther
than what the mind can envision.
Such a simple word, yet for me, one of an incalculable
something--simply beyond comprehension
Write a poem about a moment when you felt overwhelmingly joyful.
Try to convey this emotion by depicting the setting, the time, and what prompted this strong feeling of happiness and joy. Was it a personal success? Perhaps a wish you’ve had for years finally came true. Whatever it was, draw from your own life experience.
