A sonnet that I had to write for English class.
The stardust of yesterday fades away,
Betrayed by the cynical disbelief
Of an enslaved race, bloated with decay,
Who slew all magick without any grief.
In eras past, when magick reigned supreme,
The night sky was ablaze with fiery stars
Defending a realm unafraid to dream.
The unchained souls did not have any scars
Marring their celestial bodies at all.
Like a phoenix rising up from the blaze,
Their blind faith always overcame the thrall
Of closed minds in an eternal black haze.
But one by one, the stars flickered and died,
Casting an oppressive shadow worldwide.
