I thought I was safe - now I know that there's no such thing
I was safe in your arms
I was safe in your heart
And now you've expressed
That you want time apart.

I was safe in your eyes
I was safe in your smile
And now you feel
I should leave for awhile.

I know that you love me
I know that you care
And I know that you think
You're only being fair.

But just sit back
And listen to me
I'll get right to the point
So you can see.

When we were engaged
I had everything set
No more worries
Nothing to regret.
I was safe in the knowledge
That you wanted me
No one else on the side
I was all you could see.
The time we shared
Was special and fun
Video games
Or hack in the sun.

I love you more
Than the boys of my past
And I thought finally
You would be the last.
The last boy
I would ever love
The one to rise
Defiantly above.

But now I'm left
With no guarantee
I'm left to imagine
What's to become of me.
You're free to do
Things I won't see
And I really trust you
Just stay trustworthy

I love you more
Than I love myself
Please love me back
Don't leave me on the shelf.
