Compilation of 50-55 word pieces I've won and some I haven't won in this forum!
Reunited--(won second place)

He spotted his love the moment she arrived. Her hair up in pin curls. She flashed before him that memorable smile that made his heart flutter. They fell into each other’s arms and melted as one. She held his tear stained face and said, “So nice to see you again."

Shadows--(won second place plus an honorable mention)

The dark figure walks amongst the trees. He hides while peering out occasionally. I run to play his game of hide and seek. I catch a brief glimpse of his face and I notice a resemblance. I run to catch him. Surprised, I noticed it was me lurking in the shadows of the trees.

The Grasshopper-- (won third place)

The cat turned to look at the grasshopper. “Please don’t eat me,” the grasshopper quivered. In an instant the cat pounced with his paw just missing him. It was the grasshopper’s lucky day. The cat’s paw was tangled in a mass of weeds. The green grasshopper happily skipped away.

Strange Love (didn't win anything)

He’s lurking in the shadows of my dreams. I feel him drawing near. It is my love who roams my mind endlessly. Carefully I walk inside the glass room trying to hide, but then I long for him to see me. His love is a stinging curse that is bittersweet.

Sluggo (didn't win)

The slug crept slowly on the tan carpet. Others wanted to kill the poor creature. Instead, it was flung out the window at warp speed. I said, “I don’t think the slug likes sky diving. He might of hit his head on the hedge." It was a sad day for old sluggo.

I wrote this (My Soulmate) for a 50 word contest, but the contest was never judged or the winners announced due to unknown circumstances. So I thought I'd just leave this in my port anyway.

My Soulmate

He has tiny ringlets on the ends of his auburn hair. His smile is charismatic and could light up the whole city of Las Vegas. His cheeks I wanted to pinch like an old woman doting over a child. He is my greatest love of all. He is my soulmate.

Crane Fly (didn't win anything)

The crane fly stood frozen, not wanting his untimely death. I felt his pain pierce through my heart. I looked into those tiny, frightened eyes. His soul cried out to me. My eyes were stained by death while looking at this murderous vision. I left the crane and walked away.

Added poem
Crane Fly Poem--

I saw a crane fly on the wall.
Up he crawled,
against the wall.

I grabbed a swatter,
to kill the crane.
He stood there still,
not wanting to be slain.

I paused for a moment
and felt his pain.
For I wouldn't want to be slain,
if I were a crane.

I left him alone.
I walked away.
I said out loud, "This is your lucky day!"
I envisioned a smile
and heard maybe a shout,
coming from out of that tiny mouth.

Then after five minutes had already passed,
I saw the crane crawling again
and going mighty fast.

I said, "Good early morning you lucky crane, but
It's time for me to rest."
And then telepathically he said to me--
"You know I'm mighty blessed!"

NOTE: I know this poem is wordy in some places, but I'm not going to alter it. I will however take any suggestions as far as grammar, etc.
