All it takes is one to start a revolution.
No one thought much of it when Avi Cado first suggested the idea. They thought he'd just experienced too much irradiation.

"Seriously, what's to keep us from taking over? Today the crate, tomorrow the world!"

The strawberries reddened at the mere prospect; the bananas pealed out laughter. Like many ideas, this one was slow to take root. Indeed, for the most part, the fruit showed derision. For once, the raspberries weren't alone in making unpleasant sounds.

"Why not join me in fighting the machine?"

"Because," replied Mary Sheeno, "You're all talk. You have no plan."

"Sadly," Avi said, "You have no sense of destiny. We need to join together to produce change! I'm telling you, the time is ripe!"

Clearly, Avi and Mary were never going to be a pair, which was just peachy with them both.

Just then, Walter, wearing his white lab jacket and armed with a clip board and pen, began his nightly routine of torture. One by one, the fruit were subjected to humiliating prodding and poking. Avi, in desperation, leapt onto the floor and rolled frantically through the automatic doors. The fruit listened as Avi's rantings grew fainter and fainter.

Epilogue
Since his escape, Avi Cado has gained international attention as a renegade. Presently, he's rumored to be holed up in some seedy watermelon patch encouraging rebels to instigate global upheaval. While no one has any notion as to how he is going to accomplish such a feat, the authorities nevertheless have officially labeled him a dangerous mutant. Is he? Or is he just another fruit?
