My Next letter
by The Gypsy Firefly

~ My dearest Heero:
It's been a year since I read your letter. Exactly two years, three months,
one week and four days from when I read it the first time.
You left almost two and a half years ago, isn't it time to come home now,
angel? Haven't you been away long enough?

I've tried to get on with my life, I really have but you see.. you *are* my life,
maybe not my whole life but such a big part of it that I ache when I think
that you are still out there somewhere when you should be home with me.
I miss you so much that it hurts, it's physically painful to be so far from you.

But the funny thing is, that even with all this pain I can still think of
how we were before...before that night, when we were just starting to be happy,
it makes me smile. Even to this day.

Do you still smile, that rare and precious smile that always made me happy?
I like to think that you do, and I hope, so very much that you are trying to be
happy.

I was a fool back then, that night I forced you to leave, I beg you to
forgive me. Please, please come home to me. I know for a fact that
we *can* fix this. We have waisted so much time.
We will get through.

I love you so much and I know you love me too. You have told me so,
and even in your letter. I have written proof that you love me,
if you didn't you would not have left, I know that you left for me,
but I'm asking you now, angel please come back
to me, come back for me.

I love you and miss you so much. I'm writing this letter to you,
my second now, and I still to this date have no idea where you are.
We'll find each other again and my letters will get to you.

You promised me forever, Heero. It will be.
Come back to me, angel.

I love you
Duo ~

Duo sighed and rubbed his temples then removed a key from his
pocket to unlocked a small drawer in his writing desk.
He lifted out two envelopes. One was warn and battered from being
handled many times and stained from it's time in the bottom of a rubbish bin.
The other was pristine white and sealed,
simply addressed ' Heero '.

Duo traced his fingers over the battered letter, debating weather
to read it again or not, he did and once again he cried.
After regaining his composer he placed the newest letter in an envelope,
sealed it and addressed it the same way his other letter had been,
then placed all three in the drawer and locked it,
returning the key to it's proper place in his pocket.

Sighing again he turned in his seat, preparing to get up when he froze,
sensing someone in the room with him.
Drawing a deep breath, his heart fluttered, that scent,
it couldn't be, could it?
Duo allowed himself to look at the doorway behind him, when he did he
thanked the Gods that he was still sitting.

" I'm home." a small, timid smile.
" I know, welcome back." Duo replied, rising from his seat, closing the
distance between them and drew Heero into a warm embrace.

~ Owari ~

Gods, I'm such a sap!
Well Naomi, I hope you liked it, that goes for the other readers as well,
let me know what you think.
