A college girl finds herself between old and new friends.
She sat motionless, unable to look him in the eye.

"Well, I guess that settles it," he said in a gruff, cold manner.

"This isn't easy for me. I told you, we have a past and I still love him--"

"That's too bad, because I thought we could have had a future."

Thought, past tense. The simple change in tense weighed heavily on her heart and brought tears to her eyes.

He got up to walk away but she grabs his arm.

"Wait, don't leave like this."

"Like what?"

"Mad."

"What do I got to be mad about? You throw away everything we have the first time this loser comes crawling back without even batting an eye."

"That's not fair."

"You wanna talk fair. You know what... forget it."

"What?"

"Never mind. You know, they were right about you. You're nothing but a skanky townie and I never should have wasted my fuckin time!!"

The tears lost their grip and slipped down her cheeks as her voice cracked while eeking out a "You bastard."

"Have a good time with Captain '88 and the rest of the retards. Remind 'em they still lost that game."

She stormed into the bathroom, tears flowing and flushed cheeks. Not a pretty sight by any means. She found an empty stall and sobbed quietly for a few minutes. Is she more upset about his comments or him leaving? She's not sure. She's not sure about anything these days.
