Slumber Song

In sleep I tremble from a melodic dream
as the symphony's caress cradles my soul,

An aching rhythm amplifies to a crescendo
while a piano moans with chords as warm as a lover’s kiss,

The urge to scream modulates into an elaborate phrase
singing sweetly as the notes of an aria,

Raw emotion makes love to the delicate melody of a song,

Desperate longing whispers into the music of passion
performing as gorgeous at day as at night,

From this dream I wake alone
with but my simple heart to pound the slumber song.
