Funeral conversation between two kids--for a contest
“Hey, Danny.”
“Hiya Tommy.”
“You here, too, huh?”
“Did ya SEE her?”
“Uh-huh, she looks like she’s sleeping, ‘cept I didn’t think ladies slept in their clothes.”
“She’s awful cold, maybe she needs a blanket.”
“You TOUCHED her?”
“Yeah. What’s dead?”
“I think its when you can’t play any more…or make cookies.”
“She made good cookies.”
“Yeah….”
“What made her dead?”
”Dunno…I think they said Corey Nary.”
“Who’s that? One of the Uncles?”
”Maybe. I gotta go pee.”
“Don’t think we can leave yet, the old guy’s still talking. You’re gonna havta hold it.”
“K…Mom said we gotta be quiet. Can ya hear if you’s dead?”
“Nah. Look, they’re gonna put her in the ground.”
“I did that. We buried my goldfish once.”
“You had a goldfish? Lucky.”
“Yeah, but it started swimming sideways and got all skummy.”
“It was dead too, huh?”
“Yeah. I got two more tho.”
Well, Mom’s leaving. Gotta go….Seeya, Danny.”
”See ya.”
