Interpret it how you want to, if taken the way I meant it, it can be quite controversial. |
Trust in Me 2/24/2005 - Age 17 In the night when widow’s tears drown the dreams in which you cower And the cries of orphaned children bring you to your pampered knees Seeking refuge in the heavens and the tragedy of the towers You cannot escape the guilt and the magnitude of our sullen pleas And though you fought to keep the tide of the voices from expulsion The weakened state of the lies could not settle the compulsion And though we tried to coax you, fiend, to stand and face the jury The selfish madness and lust for wealth just could not be ceased With each cry of pain and shout of sorrow, we only fed the fury Until this once assumed strong leader revealed itself to be the beast But we recoiled and let you destroy and spread your poverty You fed us empty lies and deceit and called it liberty You hid behind the mask of God, convinced that you were still right As the river waters bent the dam and set our voices free One by one we were released and from the dark, crawled back into the light We stood united for our fallen brothers and cried a justice plea But you never even wavered, just brushed off you proud physique Turned you cloaked head, cocked a smile, and whispered “You can trust in me.” And as stable as we started, we shattered into a crumbled heap Hypnotized by his hollow promises and the solace of this sleep But the wound that destroyed us, the cut that ended history Were those five provocative words he cried, “You can trust in me.” **Please critique honestly and tell me your opinion.
