The futility and wrong of war
We are taught
that violence
Is not the appropriate way to redress wrongs.

Ideally, our parents teach us this.

America
is the finest country
of our planet.

We are strong
and privileged.

Of late
we have become immured
to our privileges
that we correctly
deem human rights.

Others
deprived of these rights
(like running water, and full bellies, and the
opportunity to voice opinions free of fear)
struck out against us
in a vile violence of fire and pain,
launching our own innocent missiles,
laden with our mothers, fathers, sons and daughters
into the heart of our country.

Our mainland was attacked with our own technology.

Our heart burned with

Righteous

Indig
Nation.

We are also taught
that two wrongs do not make a right.

Ideally, our parents teach us this.

He or she who murders the murderer
in our country
will be prosecuted for murder,
and rightfully so.

Murder is murder.

No matter the reason, however compelling.
No murder is sanctioned.

By raising weapons against our fellow men,
regardless of the rationale,
we conspire to commit murder.

By raising a gun to my eye,
and sighting on you,
I conspire to commit murder.

By doing so,
given that you are my fellow man,
I conspire to kill myself.

War is suicide.

War is the self-destruction of a race.
