A story of my high school sweetheart |
For “M” Awkwardly standing before my mirror I resembled a vanishing light... I was visually impaired And sick of painting sentient self portraits Yet I still sang to the melody And danced to the beat Of love All the pretty girls stared With mating dragonflies Haloing their heads They crowded his bed And he left them briefly fulfilled And eventually alone His watery brown eyes Pressed over little lies And fabricated cries Turned the brow of my eye Security and certainty Locked themselves away In the chambers of his heart Many times he told me I was the first girl given the key Wild talent drew me in Sparkling sands spread and flew… Past his palms to kiss his dreams Of stages with lights and my highest white beam Gleamed upon him On the floor of the gym Down on his knees And humbled before me Pulsing fingertips Slid across dampened lips Then tickled his hips; I inhaled all of his love As we shared breath Only a kiss apart But that was only the start Of his breaking my heart By flying hours away The very next day You see, We stood together Before my mirror Side by side He was much taller than I And now HE resembled the vanishing light I noticed he quickly flipped the switch So I couldn’t see the sign And nearly five years later… He’s almost left my mind |
