A funny lament about technology and its complete incapability to handle me.
Technological Woes

Sometimes, I really want to throw my hands into the air and wail, “WHY ME?!” because of my procrastinating ways. A procrastinator’s worst nightmare is technology rebelling against them when they need it most. Trust me, I know. Woe to the poor soul, i.e. me, who slaves away on a paper for a whole night…only to lose the whole darn thing because the computer crashes and they have forgotten to save. (Technically, it’s not just my computer that hates me…my internet and printer hate me too, but that’s a story for another day…)

I tried to tell my sister how our computer hated me, but she gave me a weirded out look, and the ‘smile and nod’…a defensive strategy where one merely smiles and nods hoping that the stupid whacko talking to them will eventually go away. However, my little sister’s dismissal of my revelation did not upset one bit. (I mean, what would a twelve-year-old know?) So, I continued on thinking that our computer hated me and I kept telling people so.

So, what makes me think that my computer hates me? One day, I was typing up a report due the next day, and lo and behold, the stupid computer crashes!

And guess what?

I had only saved about ten minutes of my work. That wouldn’t be bad…if I hadn’t put about three or four hours of work into that evil report. And that little thing called autosave on Microsoft Word? It hasn’t kicked in yet!

However, it’s not only my personal computer…all the computers at school seem to have joined some sort of freaky ‘I-hate-Grace’ club. I was at school just a few days ago trying to finish my IDS project, which I had procrastinated as usual. (Just my luck to have a class in technology…) I had worked so hard on the background and animation on my project when it happened. One minute, I’m sitting in my chair perfecting my project and before I know it, BAM!

My computer crashes.

And I, not learning my lesson from previous experiences, had not saved any of the work!

Computers must really hate me, and I happily reciprocate these feelings…or maybe this is just my computer(s) ways of telling me to stop procrastinating.

Why bother though? My computer will probably go and turn my printer against me.
